FOOD FUNNY

Here's a good one from Rosemary Zwick:
To help a friend lose weight, I told her that she should switch to
lower-fat foods, including skim milk. When she said her family would
drink only whole milk, I suggested that she keep their regular container
and refill it with skim milk. This worked for quite a while, until her
daughter asked one morning whether the milk was okay.
"Sure, it's fine," my friend answered, fearing she had been found out.
"Why do you ask?"
The daughter explained, "Well, according to the expiration date, this
milk expired six months ago!"

TODAY'S RECIPE
__________________________________________________
Have you ever wanted to dry some fruit but didn't want to spend the
money to buy a food dehydrator? Fret no longer. Here is an easy and
inexpensive method to make dried apples, and the technique will also
work with peaches, pears, and apricots.
Dried Apple Rings
2 apples, peeled and cored
1 Tbs (15 ml) lemon juice
1 Tbs (15 ml) water
Slice the apples into thin rings and toss with the lemon juice and
water. Drain and pat dry with paper towels. Place the apple rings on a
wire rack and heat in a 150F (65C) oven until dry, about 4 hours,
turning them once after 2 hours. Store in an airtight container.
Serves 1 to 2.
