"Driver's License Picture"

When I went to get my driver's license renewed,
our local motor-vehicle bureau was packed. The
line inched along for almost an hour until the
man ahead of me finally got his license.

He inspected his photo for a moment and
commented to the clerk, "I was standing in line
so long, I ended up looking pretty grouchy in
this picture."

The woman beside him peered over his shoulder,
then reassured him, "It's okay. That's how you're
going to look when the cops pull you over anyway."

"The Nicked Bumper" (A golden oldie...)

A man was trying to pull out of a parking place,
but nicked the bumper of the parked car in front
of him. Witnessed by a handful of pedestrians
waiting for a bus, the driver got out, inspected
the damage, and proceeded to write a note to
leave on the windshield of the car he had hit.
(This was the law in California for damage to
an unoccupied vehicle.)

The note read:

"Hello. I have just hit your car, and there are
some people here watching me who think that I
am writing this note to leave you my name,
phone number, and driver's license number,
but I am not."
