Rosemary Zwick finally provides an answer to the age-old question with
this one:

A chicken farmer put in a playground for his chickens to see
if happier chickens would make more eggs. Sure enough, his
egg production increased. His neighbor across the street
caught wind of this and put in a playground for his chickens.
In fact, he put one in with a 15 foot slide. So, one by one, the
first farmer's chickens began crossing the road to get to the other slide.

                            TODAY'S RECIPE
__________________________________________________

This recipe can be made using ripe cantaloupe or honeydew
melon, but papaya gives it a true taste of the tropics.

Papaya Fritters

1 cup (250 ml) all-purpose flour
1/2 cup (125 ml) milk
1 egg, beaten
2 Tbs (30 ml) sugar
A grating of fresh nutmeg
2 cups (500 ml) papaya, peeled and cubed
Oil for frying
Powdered (confectioner's) sugar

Combine the flour, milk, egg, sugar, and nutmeg and stir until
smooth. Add the cubed papaya and toss to coat. Drop by
spoonfuls into hot oil and cook until golden brown. Turn and
brown the other side. Drain on paper towels and dust with powdered sugar.
Serves 4 to 6.
