FOOD FUNNY
_________________________________________________
Thanks to Linda from Naples for this true food funny:
Hearing about what people have lurking in their pantries made
me recall the following true funny.
My friend Sue wanted to prepare a recipe calling for dried
savory. Having none in her pantry, she had searched to no
avail at all the local grocery stores.
One day while driving past a strip mall, she saw a sign for a
store called The Spice Rack. She thought for sure she had
finally found a place that would end her quest for dried savory.
As she entered the store she saw not spices, but shelves of
porno videos. Yup, it was the wrong kind of spice.

TODAY'S RECIPE
__________________________________________________
Here's a healthy one-dish meal with the flavors of Greece.
Shrimp with Green Beans and Feta Cheese
2 Tbs (30 ml) olive oil
1 lb (450 g) medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
2-4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 1/2 lbs (675 g) green beans (haricots), trimmed and cut into bite-size
pieces
2 15-oz (225 g) cans chopped tomatoes, thoroughly drained
1/4 cup (60 ml) dry white wine
2 Tbs (30 ml) lemon juice
8 oz (225 g) crumbled feta cheese
Cooked rice or pasta of your choice
Heat the oil in a large heavy skillet over high heat and saute
the garlic for about 1 minute. Add the green beans, tomatoes,
and wine and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and cook covered
until the beans are tender but still crisp, about 10 minutes. Add
the shrimp and lemon juice and top with the feta cheese and
cook covered until the shrimp are pink and firm to the touch,
about 5 minutes. Serve on top of cooked rice or pasta.
Serves 4 to 6.
