Thanks again to Rosemary Zwick for today's food funny:

Don goes into business for himself. He buys a hot-dog cart and sets it
up in a prime spot on a busy downtown corner, right near a large bank.
One day, his friend Jim approaches him and asks Don if he can lend him some money. Don refuses.

"But why?" asks Jim. "Everyone knows you're doing well and I'm not asking for much."

"Well, Jim, in order to get this spot, I had to sign a non-compete
agreement with that bank over there. According to the terms of the
agreement, they don't sell hot dogs and I don't lend money."

                            TODAY'S RECIPE
__________________________________________________

This aromatic vinegar isn't spicy in the "hot and spicy" sense of the
word, so feel free to add it to anything that can use a burst of flavor.

Spiced Vinegar

2 cups (500 ml) white wine vinegar
1 Tbs (15 ml) allspice berries
1 Tbs (15 ml) cardamom seeds
2 rosettes star anise
1 cinnamon stick (about 5 inches, 12 cm)

Combine all ingredients in a pint (500 ml) bottle and cap or cork
tightly. Allow to steep for at least 1 week before using.
Makes 1 pint (500 ml).
