FOOD FUNNY

Here's a "from-the-mouths-of-babes" food funny from Rosemary Zwick:
I was nervous the night my husband and I brought our three young sons to
an upscale restaurant for the first time. My husband ordered a bottle of
wine with the meal. When the waitress brought it, our children became
quiet as she began the ritual uncorking. She poured a small amount for
me to taste, and then our six-year-old piped up, "Mom usually drinks a
lot more than that!"

TODAY'S RECIPE

The sweetness of the berries seems to counteract the tartness of the
vinegar, making this a welcome addition to more dishes than you might
imagine. Consider using it to make salad dressings, or adding a few
drops to sauces, soups, and stews.
Mixed Berry Vinegar
1/2 cup (125 ml) fresh or frozen raspberries
1/2 cup (125 ml) fresh blueberries
1/2 cup (125 ml) fresh strawberries
2 cups (500 ml) white wine vinegar
Combine the berries in a large jar and crush with a wooden spoon. Add
the vinegar and cover tightly. Allow to steep for 1 week. Strain through
a coffee filter or several layers of cheesecloth. Transfer the vinegar
to a pint (500 ml) bottle and cap or cork tightly.
Makes 1 pint (500 ml).
