Part of my job as a public-health nurse is teaching new parents how to
care for their infants. As I was demonstrating how to wrap a newborn, a
young couple turned to me and said, "You mean we should wrap the baby
like an egg roll?"

"Yes," I replied, "That is a good analogy."

"I don't know how to make egg rolls," another mother said anxiously.
"Can I wrap my baby like a burrito?"

The classic oatmeal cookie with a twist.

Butterscotch Oatmeal Cookie Mix

1/2 cup (125 ml) butterscotch morsels
1/2 cup (125 ml) dark brown sugar
1 cup (2350 ml) oatmeal (not quick-cooking or instant)
1 cup (250 ml) biscuit mix
1/2 cup (125 ml) light brown sugar
1 cup (250 ml) biscuit mix

Layer the ingredients in a 1-quart (1 L) jar in the order listed. Attach
a gift card with the following instructions:

Beat 8 Tbs (125 ml) butter, 1 egg, and 1 tsp (5 ml) vanilla extract in a
bowl until well mixed. Stir in the butterscotch oatmeal cookie mix and
form into 1-inch (3 cm) balls. Place on a greased baking sheet and bake
in a preheated 375F (190C) oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
