            FOOD FUNNY

Thanks to Dewey Thompson of Holts Summit, Missouri for this
true food funny:

Story my father told me. During WWII he was on a liberty ship
transporting across the Pacific. In the convoy was some Russian
vessels, and the Supply Officer got a hold of some of the "finest"
Russian caviar. Serving it proudly, the Supply officer wanted to
ask some of the men how they liked it. He approached one old
crusty sergeant at a table and asked him how he liked it. The
reply was, "Blackberry jam tastes of fish."

A cocktail appetizer that's healthy enough to eat for breakfast is
a rare thing, so go ahead and eat this at will without worrying
about your waistline.

Apple Horseradish Dip

2 apples, peeled, cored, and grated
1/4 cup (60 ml) plain yogurt
1 Tbs (15 ml) prepared horseradish
1 Tbs (15 ml) lemon juice
2 Tbs (30 ml) finely chopped walnuts

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and stir to combine. For a
smoother dip, the ingredients can be pureed in an electric
blender or food processor. Serve with crackers, potato chips,
or raw vegetables. Makes about 1 cup (250 ml).
