FOOD FUNNY
__________________________________________________
Thanks to the mysterious "DRSPAGHETI" for this classic food funny:
A meat counter clerk, who had had a particularly good day, proudly
flipped his last chicken on a scale and weighed it. "That will be
$6.35" he told the customer.
"That really is a little too small," said the woman. "Don't you have
anything larger?" Hesitating, but thinking fast, the clerk returned
the chicken to the refrigerator, paused a moment, then took the same
one out again.
"This one," he said faintly, "will be $6.65."
The woman paused for a moment, then made her decision. "I know what,"
she said, "I'll take both of them!"

Today's recipe was originally submitted by Adele Forbes in November,
1998 with the following comments:
Hello all of you cyberspace recipeaholics! My name is Adele Forbes
and I live at the base of Grandfather Mountain in Linville, NC. I
worked as a personal chef for 15 years in the area resorts before
becoming a full-time herbalist. I also wrote a recipe column "Cooking
With Adele" for many years for our local paper but now write an herb
column (culinary and medicinal). I have written a cookbook in memory
of my grandmother who raised me with all of my best recipes and the
most requested recipes out of the cooking column. Needless to say, I
love food and cooking and mostly watching the people eat who I have
cooked for. Also, needless to say, I have more recipes than Betty
Crocker. Here is one of my most requested recipes. Every time I fix
it and take it somewhere everyone has to have the recipe.
Reader Barbara Stephens nominated it for The Best of World Wide
Recipes along with the following thoughts:
I got this recipe years ago from a pen pal but did not save the name.
It is a great appetizer that is rich (not low calorie), but delicious,
dramatic and flexible. Leftovers can also be heated up and served.
Although I don't have occasions often to serve it at, it remains one
of the favorites that I have gotten from World Wide Recipes. And I
love the name! Here is the recipe as it first appeared:
Mississippi Sin
2 cups (8 oz) shredded cheddar cheese
1 8z pkg cream cheese, softened
1 1/2 cups sour cream
1/2 cup chopped cooked ham or shrimp (I used
canned crab)
1/3 cup chopped green chillies
1/3 cup chopped green onions, including tops
1 Tbs Worcestershire sauce
1 (1 lb) loaf round Hawaiian bread (could probably
use any round bread)
Combine all ingredients except bread, of course, mixing well. Cut a
thin slice from top of bread, set aside. Using a gentle sawing
motion, cut vertically to, but not through, bottom of loaf, 1/2 inch
from edge. Lift out center of loaf, cut into 1 inch cubes and set
aside. Fill hollowed loaf with dip, cover with reserved top slice of
bread. Wrap in aluminum foil. Bake in preheated 350 deg oven for 1
hour. Serve with reserved bread cubes, crackers or chips. This is
truly a delicious recipe which is a lot of fun to serve to large
groups of people.
Note: you can mix up the dip ahead of time and freeze. Defrost
before putting into bread.
