Thanks to George in Poughkeepsie for the many interesting food
articles he sends me, such as this one:
BENTONVILLE, ARK (AP) -- Some Wal-Mart customers soon will be
able to sample a new discount item -- Wal-Mart's own brand of wine.
The world's largest retail chain is teaming up with E&J Gallo Winery of
Modesto, Calif., to produce the spirits at an affordable price, in the
$2-5 range.
While wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to throw a bottle of
Wal-Mart brand wine into their shopping carts, there is a market for
cheap wine, said Kathy Micken, professor of marketing at Roger
Williams University in Bristol, R.I. She said: "The right name is
important."
So, here we go: The top 12 suggested names for Wal-Mart Wine:
12. Chateau Traileur Parc
11. White Trashfindel
10. Big Red Gulp
9. Grape Expectations
8. Domaine Wal-Mart "Merde du Pays"
7. NASCARbernet
6. Chef Boyardeaux
5. Peanut Noir
4. Chateau des Moines
3. I Can't Believe It's Not Vinegar!
2. World Championship Riesling
And the number 1 name for Wal-Mart Wine ...
1. Nasti Spumante
And who says they don't know wine in Arkansas?

TODAY'S RECIPE
__________________________________________________
With Mother's Day next Sunday, I thought this would be a good time to
offer up some super simple recipes. Subscribers to the PLUS edition
will get a similar menu originally published in 1999 in the "Bonus
Recipe" section, but this week's recipes are designed not only for
children, but for husbands who might not spent very much time in the
kitchen, and even for the busy mothers who have to cook their own
Mother's Day dinner. Here is our "Super Easy Mother's Day" menu:
Monday's Starter
Hearts of Palm with Ham
Tuesday's Soup or Salad
Puree Mongole
Wednesday's Side Dish
Peas and Peanuts
Thursday's Entree
Teriyaki Salmon
Friday's Dessert
Strawberry Shortcake a la Mode
This may qualify as the world's easiest appetizer, and it tastes
darned good too.
Hearts of Palm with Ham
1 can (15 ox, 425 g) hearts of palm, drained
6-8 slices prosciutto or thinly sliced cooked ham
Lettuce leaves for garnish
Wrap each of the hearts of palm in a slice of prosciutto or cooked ham
and arrange on a bed of lettuce. Serves 4 to 6.
