FOOD FUNNY

Here is a collection of culinary head scratchers from the lovely Megan
McKenzie:
Who was the first person to look at a cow and say, "I think I'll
squeeze these dangly things here and drink whatever comes out"?
Who was the first to say, "See that chicken over there...,I'm gonna
eat the next thing that comes out of its rear end"?
Why is there a light in the fridge but not in the freezer?
Why do toasters have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible
crisp which no decent person would eat?
If Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why is there a song about it?
If the Professor on Gilligan's Island can make a radio with a coconut,
why can't he fix a hole in the boat?
If Wile E. Coyote can afford to buy all that ACME junk, why can't he
just buy himself dinner?
Do illiterate people get the full effect of Alphabet soup?
If corn oil is made from corn, and olive oil is made from olives, what
is baby oil made from?

TODAY'S RECIPE
__________________________________________________
It may come as a surprise to those of us in hotter climes, but summer
hasn't even started yet. That will happen this Saturday, and in
anticipation of the many long summer days ahead, I am pleased to
present some of the more than 50 recipes in issues #7 of World Wide
Recipes EXTRA! It is called "Picnics & Potlucks - A Collection of
Make-and-Take Dishes" and is available for a mere $5 at
http://www.worldwiderecipes.com/extra.htm
This dish is super simple, super quick, and super good. It is also
easy to make and transport, and can even be assembled at the last
minute while the charcoal gets started.
Fresh Figs with Salami
8 fresh figs, cut in half
16 thin slices Genoa salami
Wrap each fig half in a slice of salami and secure with a toothpick.
Serves 4 to 6.
