::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: FOOD FUNNY :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Here's a good one from reader Cyrus Walts:

A man walks into a diner, sits down, and tells the waitress "I'd like
a cup of coffee, without cream."

She says, "I'm sorry, sir, we don't serve cream. I'll have to give it
to you without milk!"

::::::::::::::::::::::::::: TODAY'S RECIPE ::::::::::::::::::::::::::

If there is a beet lover in your house, then you have to try this
recipe. Even the people who don't particularly enjoy beets might find
that this one is different enough to convert them, if only
temporarily. Because their flavor is so much brighter and sweeter, I
especially encourage you to use fresh beets rather than canned.

Mandarin Beets with Citrus Dressing

3 to 6 beets (depending on size), cooked,
cooled, peeled, and thinly sliced
1 medium red onion, thinly sliced
1-12 oz (336 g) can mandarin orange segments, drained
2 Tbs (30 ml) orange marmalade
2 Tbs (30 ml) orange juice
1 Tbs (15 ml) vegetable oil
A few drops of sesame oil
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

Combine the sliced beets, onion, and mandarin orange segments in a
serving bowl. Whisk together the remaining ingredients and pour over
the beets. Serve chilled or at room temperature. Serves 4 to 6.
