::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: FOOD FUNNY :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Here's what reader Irene DiCaprio says about the food funny she sent
us:
Hi Chef, I think you'll like this one. Nell should like it too, since
bread is a major part of the story!
Three construction workers are eating lunch on the top of the building
they are working on. The first man opens his lunch box and shouts, "A
ham and cheese sandwich again? If I get ham and cheese one more time
I will jump off this building." The second man opens his lunch box
and shouts, "Egg salad sandwich, again? If I get egg salad one more
day, I'll join you." The third man opens his lunch box and shouts,
"Peanut butter and jelly sandwich, again? If I get peanut butter and
jelly one more day, I'll join you too."
The next day, the first man opens his lunch box, sees the ham and
cheese sandwich and jumps off the building. The second man opens his
lunch box and seeing the egg salad sandwich, jumps off the building.
The third man opens his lunch box, sees the peanut butter and jelly
sandwich and also jumps off the building.
At the funeral the three wives are commiserating together. The first
wife cries, "If I knew he didn't want ham and cheese, I wouldn't have
packed it." The second wife cries, "If I had known he was tired of
egg salad, I wouldn't have packed it anymore." The first two wives
look over to the third wife. "Why are you looking at me?" she cries.
"He packed his own lunch."
::::::::::::::::::::::::::: TODAY'S RECIPE ::::::::::::::::::::::::::
With the holidays behind us, it seemed the sensible thing to do to
publish a week's worth of healthy, low-fat recipes to help us win the
battle of the bulge.
Here is a low-fat alternative to all the party dips you have been
feasting on lately. Try this at your next get together, and if you
don't tell anyone it is low-fat they will never know.
Artichoke Dip
2-14 oz (390 g) cans artichokes, drained and chopped
1/2 cup (125 ml) low-fat or fat-free sour cream
2 cups (500 ml) fat-free plain yogurt
1/4 cup (60 ml) Marsala or sherry wine
3 Tbs (45 ml) finely chopped scallions (spring onions)
2 Tbs (30 ml) grated Parmesan cheese
2 Tbs (30 ml) chopped fresh chives
Mix all ingredients together in a small bowl and spoon into a greased
oven-proof casserole. Bake in a preheated 350F (180C) oven for 30
minutes, until golden brown. Serve immediately with crackers, raw
vegetables, or toast points. Serves 4 to 6.
