"Toothpaste"*
*Our local paper runs a popular column called "10
Questions" that spotlights people who live in our community.
In addition to the usual inquiries about occupation
and age, people are asked the questions that give
a snapshot look of their personalities.
Recently one woman was asked, "What's the
'strangest' thing you ever bought?"
She answered, "Dog toothpaste."
Next question, "What is the 'most common' thing people say to you?"
Her answer: "Where did you get such white teeth?"

"Local Law Wouldn't Allow Them To Use A Burning Bush"*
*(From 2000)
It may be the most controversial billboard in the
Chicago area since a men's clothing store
commissioned a traffic-stopping visage of Dennis
Rodman and his multi-hued hair a few years ago.
The sign -- which goes up Monday on southbound
Interstate 294 at 157th Street -- says: "You're
waiting from a sign from G~d? This is it! Ordain Women."
It was paid for by the Chicago chapter of the Women's
Ordination Conference, which wants the Catholic
Church to ordain women as priests.
Spokeswoman Deborah Halter says she expects the
group's billboard to provoke debate, but doesn't
expect a response from church leaders.
