"Parents Ten Commandments for their Grown Children"
1. My hands and feet aren't as nimble as
they used to be. Please have patience
with me. I walked slowly when you were
a toddler so you could keep up. Please
do the same for me, now.
2. My eyes have seen much in this world.
Please listen patiently to my advice even
if you aren't going to follow it.
3. I do not have as much energy as I used
to. Please don't criticize my housekeeping.
I have spent a good part of my life cleaning,
cooking, and raising children.
4. My feelings are tender; please be sensitive
to my needs. Treat me as you would like to
be treated.
5. G-d has been kind enough to allow me to
spend these years with you. I consider it a
special gift to be able to see how wonderful
my children are and to enjoy my grandchildren.
6. I need your encouragement to try new things.
Help make my life fulfilling and interesting.
7. I have made many decisions in my life, good
and bad. Please allow me to continue to do this.
8. Allow me to spend time with my grandchildren.
I will play with them at their level. I will not spoil
them, just love them.
9. I will be more than happy to take care of the
grandchildren, but please do not take this for
granted. Sometimes I am too tired to deal with
infants and toddlers for extended periods of
time.
10. Please pray for me and teach your children
to do the same.
