Mediterranean kick with tangy tomato sauce, olives and mozzarella. Give

Italian Burgers with Olives & Mozzarella
from Campbell's Kitchen
Prep Time: 10 min.
Cook Time: 25 min.
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 can (10 3/4 ounces) Campbell'sŪ Condensed Tomato Soup
1/3 cup water
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano leaves, crushed
1/3 cup sliced pimento-stuffed olives
6 slices mozzarella cheese *or* provolone cheese
12 slices Italian bread
1. Shape the beef into *6* (1/2-inch thick) burgers.
2. Cook the burgers in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat until
well browned on both sides. Pour off any fat.
3. Stir the soup, water, oregano and olives in the skillet and heat to a
boil. Reduce the heat to low. Cover and cook for 5 minutes or until
desired doneness.
4. Top the burgers with the cheese and cook until the cheese is melted.
Serve the burgers on the bread with the soup mixture for dipping.
Makes: 6 servings.
Kitchen Clip
Make sure to shape the burgers slightly larger in diameter than
the slices of bread. They'll shrink a bit during cooking and this
technique will ensure that the burger-to-bread ratio stays balanced.
