Attention Steak Lovers! Is there another way to cook steak other than
grilling or broiling? You bet. Turn it Italian to bring out the big,
beefy flavor of flank steak.
Sliced Steak Pizzaiola
from Campbell's Kitchen
Prep Time: 10 min.
Cook Time: 20 min.
1 tbsp. vegetable oil
1 beef flank steak (about 1 1/2 pounds)
2 medium onions, sliced (about 1 cup)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp. Italian seasoning, crushed
2 cups PregoŽ Traditional Italian Sauce * or* Roasted Garlic & Herb
Italian Sauce
Heat the oil in a 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat. Add the beef
and cook for 10 minutes or until it's well browned on both sides. Remove
the beef from the skillet. Pour off any fat.
Add the onions, garlic and Italian seasoning to the skillet. Cook until
the onions are tender. Return the beef to the skillet. Stir in the
sauce. Reduce the heat to low. Cook the beef for 3 minutes for
medium-rare or to desired doneness.
Slice the beef into thin diagonal slices. Serve with the sauce.
**Serving Suggestion:** Serve with potatoes roasted with olive oil and
garlic and steamed broccoli. For dessert serve fresh strawberries with
light whipped topping sprinkled with raw sugar.
Serves 6.
Kitchen Clip To keep the meat as juicy as possible, let the steak
"rest" on the cutting board for at least 5 minutes after cooking and
before slicing. This allows the flavorful juices to redistribute
throughout the meat.
