Savory Sausage & Rice Skillet

Prep Time: 15 min. - Cook Time: 1 hr.
1 lb. sweet Italian sausage, cut into 1" pieces
1 cup sliced celery
1 large onion, chopped
1 medium green pepper, cut into 2" strips
1 medium red pepper, cut into 2" strips
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp. dried thyme leaves, crushed OR 1 tbsp. chopped fresh thyme
1 cup uncooked regular brown rice
1/2 cup uncooked wild rice
2 cans (14 oz. each ) Swanson(R) Chicken Broth OR Natural Goodness(TM) Chicken Broth (3 1/2 cups)
2 tbsp. chopped fresh parsley
Directions:
COOK sausage in large nonstick skillet until browned. Add celery, onion, peppers, garlic and thyme and cook until vegetables are tender.
ADD brown rice, wild rice and broth. Heat to a boil. Cover and cook over low heat 45 min. or until rice is done. Stir in parsley. Serves 6.
Kitchen Clip:
Use link sausage, sliced into 1" pieces, or loose Italian sausage, crumbled. For a super-colorful combination, use some green, yellow and red bell pepper. Or for convenience, use just one type of bell pepper.
