Thanks to Rosemary Zwick for this one:

Three prisoners are captured in the war. They are asked what they wished
to have for their last meal. The Italian asks for and receives a
pepperoni pizza. The Frenchmen requests and receives a filet mignon. The
American requests a plate of strawberries. The captors are surprised and reply, "Strawberries?"

"Yes, strawberries."

"But, they are out of season!"

"That’s ok. I'll wait…."

Not everyone counts chocolate as their favorite candy. Here's an
old-fashioned favorite that's sure to please them.

Butterscotch Drops

2 cups (500 ml) dark brown sugar
1/4 cup (60 ml) molasses (treacle)
1/2 cup (125 ml) butter
2 Tbs (30 ml) water
2 Tbs (30 ml) cider vinegar

Combine all ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil over moderate
heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Boil until the mixture reaches the
hard-crack stage, 300F (180C). Drop from a teaspoon onto lightly
buttered aluminum foil or marble slab and allow to cool.
Makes about 1 pound (450 g).
