             FOOD FUNNY

Thanks to Caryn in Manalapan, NJ for this one:

A man was sitting on the edge of the bed observing his wife looking at
herself in the mirror. Since her birthday was not far off he asked what
she'd like to have for her birthday. "I'd like to be six again," she
replied, still looking in the mirror.

On the morning of her birthday he arose early, made her a nice big bowl
of Lucky Charms, and then took her to Six Flags theme park. He put her
on every ride in the park; the Death Slide, the Wall of Fear, the
Screaming Monster Roller Coaster, everything that was. Five hours later
they staggered out of the theme park. Her head was reeling and her
stomach felt upside down. He then took her to a McDonald's where he
ordered her a Happy Meal with extra fries and a chocolate shake. Then it
was off to a movie, popcorn, a soda pop, and her favorite candy, M&M's.

Finally she wobbled home with her husband and collapsed into bed
exhausted. He leaned over his wife with a big smile and lovingly asked,
"Well Dear, what was it like being six again?"

Her eyes slowly opened and her expression suddenly changed. "I meant my dress size."

             TODAY'S RECIPE
__________________________________________________

I am fortunate to live in Georgia where Vidalia onions are grown, and
when they are in season (late April through mid-June) we eat them at
practically every meal. They are great in any dish that calls for
onions, but they are really spectacular when they are the featured attraction, as in this recipe.

Baked Vidalia Onions

4 - 6 Vidalia onions, or other sweet onions such as Walla Walla, or Bermuda
2 - 3 Tbs (30 - 45 ml) olive oil
2 - 3 tsp (10 - 15 ml) caraway seeds
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

Peel the onions and, using the tip of a paring knife, cut a small
depression in one end. Fill the depression with olive oil. Sprinkle with
the caraway seeds and season with salt and pepper. Bake in a preheated
350F (180C) oven for 1 hour, or cook in a microwave oven for 10 to 12 minutes.
Serves 4 to 6.
