FOOD FUNNY
__________________________________________________
Rosemary Zwick confesses that this food funny also applies to her:
Two overweight middle-aged women are on their daily exercise stroll.
They were talking about how hard it is to lose weight as one gets older,
something with which all you youths must deal eventually. One woman
complained that she remained an "apple-shape" and the other said that no
matter how much she exercised, there was too much poundage on her
thighs. It almost seemed like it was there to stay. Her buddy agreed,
saying, "It's true. The lard works in mysterious ways."

TODAY'S RECIPE
__________________________________________________
If you have access to a nice French-style pâté, then by all means use
it. Otherwise, liverwurst can be substituted.
Pâté Sandwiches
1 Tbs (15 ml) butter
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
1/2 cup (125 ml sliced mushrooms
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
4 slices dark rye or pumpernickel bread
4 oz (110 g) liver pâté or liverwurst
3 Tbs (45 ml) chopped fresh parsley
Heat the butter in a small skillet over moderate heat and saute the
garlic and mushrooms until the mushrooms are tender and lightly browned,
about 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper and set aside to cool.
Spread the liver pâté on half the bread, top with the chopped parsley,
mushrooms, and the remaining bread.
Serves 2.
