FOOD FUNNY

Here's a shopping tip from Anna Welander:
A woman was shopping at a produce stand. She approached the vendor and
asked, "How much are these oranges?"
"Two for a quarter," answered the vendor.
"How much is just one?" she asked.
"Fifteen cents," answered the vendor.
"Then I'll take the other one," she said.

TODAY'S RECIPE
__________________________________________________
I don't do it often, but every once in a while I pull out the waffle
iron that has been stashed at the back of the cupboard and whip up a
batch of waffles. I would have done it more often if I had discovered
this recipe sooner.
Gingerbread Waffles
1 1/2 cups (375 ml) all-purpose flour
1/2 cup (125 ml) whole-wheat flour
1 Tbs (15 ml) brown sugar
4 tsp (20 ml) baking powder
1 tsp (5 ml) ground ginger
1 tsp (5 ml) ground cinnamon
A grating of fresh nutmeg
A pinch of ground cloves
3 eggs
1 1/2 cups (375 ml) milk
1/4 cup (60 ml) molasses
1/4 cup (60 ml) melted butter or vegetable oil
Combine the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl. Whisk together the
remaining ingredients in a separate bowl and add them to the dry
mixture. Mix until blended but do not over mix - a few small lumps are
okay. Pour the batter onto a preheated waffle iron and cook according to
the manufacturer's instructions. Serve with butter and syrup of your
choice.
Serves 4 to 6.
