Thanks to Lynne Janbergs for this groaner:

During the Middle Ages, there was an old king who ruled a vast kingdom.
King Cole was a kind ruler, but he was known for his slightly mad
decrees. For example, one year, he decreed that the cabbages tithed to
him MUST be diced and covered in mayonnaise. It was, of course, known as Cole's Law.

             TODAY'S RECIPE
__________________________________________________

If you keep a supply of frozen pastry dough on hand like I do, these
tasty little snacks can be ready in a jiffy.

Quick Cheese Straws

1 cup (250 ml) freshly grated Parmesan cheese
Pastry dough for a 9-inch (23 cm) pie

Sprinkle half the cheese on the dough. Fold the dough in half and press
the edges together. Sprinkle with the remaining cheese, fold in half
again, and press the edges together. Roll the dough into a rectangle
about 1/4 inch (1/2 cm) thick and cut into strips, squares, diamonds, or
any shape you like. Place on a lightly greased baking sheet and bake in
a preheated 450F (220C) oven until golden brown, 10 to 15 minutes.
Serve warm or at room temperature.
Serves 6 to 8 as an appetizer.
