Thanks to lifetime subscriber Patricia Simons for sending us this one:

While attending a marriage seminar dealing with communication, Tom and
his wife Grace listened to the instructor, "It is essential that
husbands and wives know each others' likes and dislikes." He addressed
the man, "Can you name your wife's favorite flower?"

Tom leaned over, touched his wife's arm gently and whispered, "It's
Pillsbury, isn't it?"

Biscuits with bacon and cheese baked inside - what will they
think of next? Milk with fruit blended in? Hmmm...

Bacon and Cheese Biscuits

2 cups (500 ml) all-purpose flour
1 Tbs (15 ml) baking powder
1 tsp (5 ml) baking soda
1/2 tsp (2 ml) salt
5 Tbs (75 ml) cold butter cut into small pieces
1 cup (250 ml) buttermilk
2-3 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
1 cup (250 ml) grated Cheddar cheese

Combine the dry ingredients in a bowl and cut in the butter using
a pastry knife or a pair of dinner knives until it resembles coarse
crumbs. Add the buttermilk and stir just enough to form a ball.
Fold in the bacon and cheese. Drop heaping tablespoonfuls on
an ungreased baking sheet and bake in a preheated 450F (230C)
oven until golden brown, 10 to 12 minutes. Serve immediately.
Makes about 18 biscuits.

Eggs are often used to bind other ingredients to form patties,
but in these unusual little pancakes they also act as the primary
ingredient. Consider serving them with ketchup or salsa if you
like, but they're pretty darned good all by themselves.

Egg Patties

6 eggs
2 scallions (spring onions), green and white parts, finely chopped
2-3 slices bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
1/2 cup (125 ml) freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup (125 ml) bread crumbs
1/4 cup (60 ml) chopped parsley
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste

Whisk the eggs in a bowl and stir in the remaining ingredients. For each
patty, spoon a large tablespoon of the mixture onto a lightly greased
skillet or griddle over moderate heat. Cook until golden on the bottom,
about 2 minutes. Flip and cook until puffed, about 2 minutes more. Serve
immediately. Serves 3 to 4.
