Here are some words of wisdom from Anna Welander:
If you leave alphabet soup on the stove when you go out, it could spell disaster.

I live in Georgia where raw peanuts are easy to come by, but you
may have to seek them out at health food stores or on the internet
if you live outside the "goober belt." Regardless of where you are,
you will be amazed at how crunchy and flavorful these are compared
to store-bought roasted peanuts. The salt will adhere to the hot
nuts better if you pulverize it in a spice grinder or with a mortar
and pestle before adding it.
Fried Peanuts
Peanut or vegetable oil for deep frying
2 cups (500 ml) shelled raw peanuts with skins
Fine salt to taste
Curry powder to taste (optional)
Cayenne pepper to taste (optional)
Heat at least 1 inch (3 cm) of oil in a deep saucepan over moderate
heat until it reaches 300F (150C) on an instant read thermometer.
Add the peanuts and cook, stirring occasionally, until deep golden
brown, about 5 minutes. Remove the peanuts with a slotted spoon
and drain on paper towels. Sprinkle with seasonings of your choice
while the peanuts are still hot. The oil may be strained and used
again. Makes 2 cups (500 ml).

These are great cooked in the oven or under the broiler, but if you
cook them over hot coals they can't be beat. Use a small hibachi
if you have one for added authenticity.
Japanese-Style Chicken Wings
2-3 lbs (900-1350 g) chicken wings, tips removed, drumettes and wings separated
3 scallions (spring onions), green and white parts, finely chopped
2-4 cloves garlic, finely chopped
3 Tbs (45 ml) soy sauce
3 Tbs (45 ml) sake or mirin
1 Tbs (15 ml) honey
1 Tbs (15 ml) grated fresh ginger
Freshly ground pepper to taste
Combine all the ingredients in a bowl or plastic bag, mixing to combine
and coat the chicken wings thoroughly. Marinate refrigerated for at
least 2 hours or overnight. Cook over hot coals or under a preheated
broiler until browned on both sides and cooked through, about 10 minutes
per side. Serves 4 to 6.
