            FOOD FUNNY

It wouldn't surprise me if this were a true food funny, although
Rose Benitez of Altamonte Springs, Florida doesn't say it is.

A lady was picking through the frozen turkeys at the grocery store,
but she couldn't find one big enough for her family. She asked a
stock boy, "Do these turkeys get any bigger?" The stock boy
replied, "No ma'am, they're dead."

            TODAY'S RECIPE
__________________________________________________

This dish is actually served as a dessert in Spain and South
America, but it also makes a wonderfully quick and easy tapa
or cocktail snack. The quince paste, usually labeled "Dulce de
Membrillo," is available in most American supermarkets these
days.

Cheese with Quince Paste (Queso con Membrillo)

1/2 lb (225 g) firm, sharp cheese such as Manchego, Asiago,
or aged goat's milk cheese
1/2 lb (225 g) quince paste (dulce de membrillo)

Cut the cheese into bite-size squares or triangles about 1/4-inch
(5 mm) thick. Cut the quince paste into pieces the same size and
shape and place on top of the pieces of cheese. Secure with
toothpicks and serve at room temperature. Serves 6 to 8 as an
appetizer.
