FOOD FUNNY

Here's a good one from A. J. Allred:
An elderly man had owned a large farm for several years. He had
a large pond in the back. It was properly shaped for swimming,
so he fixed it up nice -- picnic tables, horseshoe courts, and some
apple and peach trees. One evening the old farmer decided to go
down to the pond, as he hadn't been there for a while, and look it
over. He grabbed a five-gallon bucket to bring back some fruit.
As he neared the pond he heard voices shouting and laughing
with glee. As he came closer he saw it was a bunch of young
women skinny-dipping in his pond.
He made the women aware of his presence and they all went to
the deep end. One of the women shouted to him, "We're not
coming out until you leave!"
The old man frowned, "I didn't come down here to watch you ladies
swim naked or make you get out of the pond naked." Holding the
bucket up he said, "I'm just here to feed the alligator."

TODAY'S RECIPE
__________________________________________________
As we have discussed many times in the past, I always keep a
few cans of black beans on hand. This is one reason why.
Quick Black Bean Soup
2 Tbs (30 ml) olive oil
2 medium onions, chopped
2 - 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 Tbs (15 ml) chili powder
3 cups (750 ml) canned black beans, drained
4 - 6 cups (1 - 1.5 L) beef, chicken, or vegetable stock
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
1 Tbs (15 ml) lime juice
Sour cream and chopped cilantro (coriander leaves)
for garnish
Heat the oil in a large saucepan over moderate heat and saute the
onions and garlic until tender but not brown, about 5 minutes. Add
the chili powder and cook 1 minute. Add the beans and the stock
and bring to a boil. Puree half the contents of the pot in an electric
blender or food processor and return to the pot. Stir in the lime
juice and serve garnished with a dollop of sour cream and chopped
cilantro. Serves 4 to 6.
