Thanks to Rosemary Zwick of Cape Town, South Africa for this classic
food funny:

The eight-year-old boy had never spoken a word - never. One
afternoon, as he sat eating his lunch he turned to his mother and
said, "Soup's cold."

His astonished mother exclaimed, "Son, I've waited so long to hear you
speak. But all these years you never said a thing. Why haven't you
spoken before?"

The boy looked at her and replied, "Up until now, everything's been
okay."

            TODAY'S RECIPE
__________________________________________________

Serve this at the end of a fine meal and call it streusel cake. Serve
it at any other time of day and call it coffee cake. This is great
cold or at room temperature, but I like mine warm with a pat of butter
on top.

Quick Streusel Cake

8 Tbs (1 stick, 110 g) butter cut into small pieces
2 cups (500 ml) plus 3 Tbs (45 ml) all-purpose flour
1 1/2 cups (310 ml) sugar
1 cup (250 ml) chopped walnuts, pecans, or hazelnuts
2 tsp (10 ml) ground cinnamon
2 tsp (10 ml) baking powder
1/2 tsp (2 ml) salt
1 egg
3/4 cup (180 ml) milk

Combine 3 tablespoons (45 ml) butter, 3 tablespoons (45 ml) flour, 3/4
cup (180 ml) sugar, nuts, and 1 teaspoon (5 ml) cinnamon in a small
bowl, mix well, and set aside. Combine the remaining flour, butter,
sugar, baking powder and salt and mix just until the butter is coated
with flour. Add the egg and milk and mix until lumpy but well
blended. Pour half the batter into a greased and floured 9-inch (23
cm) square cake pan and sprinkle with half the streusel mixture. Add
the remaining batter and streusel and bake in a preheated 375F (190C)
oven until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean, about
30 minutes. Cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes before
serving. Serves 6 to 8.
