Reader Nancy sent us this one in a completely new category: fairy tale food
funnies.
It's a sunny morning in the Big Forest, and the Bear family is just waking
up. Baby Bear goes downstairs and sits in his small chair at the table. He
looks into his small bowl. It is empty! "Who's been eating my porridge?" he
squeaks.
Daddy Bear arrives at the table and sits in his big chair. He looks into
his big bowl, and it is also empty! "Who's been eating my porridge!" he roars?
Momma Bear puts her head through the serving hatch from the kitchen and
yells, "For Pete's sake, how many times do we have to go through this? I
haven't made the @!#$%^&* porridge, yet!"

Here is a recipe that is so quick and easy you'll wonder why you never
thought of doing it before. It's perfect for those mornings you want to
cook your family something special but don't have the time to whip up some
waffle batter.
French Toast Waffles
2 eggs, beaten
1/4 cup (60 ml) milk
2 Tbs (30 ml) melted butter
1/4 tsp (2 ml) ground cinnamon
Sliced white or whole-wheat bread
Beat the eggs, milk, butter, and cinnamon together in a shallow bowl or pie
plate. Trim the bread if necessary to fit your waffle iron. Dip the bread
in the egg mixture, coating both sides, and cook in a hot waffle iron until
golden brown. Allow 2 to 3 slices per serving.
