Here's another pig joke from reader Rob in Alpine Alabama:
While walking the other day, I passed a farm. I noticed that out in
the apple orchard, the farmer was lifting a pig up to the branches and
letting it eat apples. "Wouldn't it save time to just knock some
apples off the tree and let the pig eat them that way?" I asked. The
farmer looked at me as if I was stupid and replied, "What's time to a
pig?"

Here's a simple and tasty variation on the classic Philippine "lumpia"
which is perfect for a holiday cocktail party:
Philippine Cheese Rolls
1 lb (450 g) firm cheese such as Gruyere, Swiss, or Cheddar
20 spring roll or won ton wrappers
Vegetable oil for deep frying
Cut the cheese into sticks about 4 inches (10 cm) long and 1/2 inch (1
cm) thick. Moisten the edges of the wrappers with a finger dipped in
water and roll the cheese sticks spring roll fashion. Heat the oil in
a deep pot over high heat until the surface shimmers and fry the rolls
a few at a time until golden brown, 3 to 4 minutes. Drain on paper
towels and serve immediately. Serves 4 to 6.
