Here's a classic food funny, compliments of reader Sally in southern
Maryland:
A woman goes to the butcher shop to buy a chicken for the Sunday meal.
The butcher has only one scrawny chicken left. He puts it on the
scale. "Three pounds," he says.
"That's too scrawny; don't you have something bigger?", she asks.
He pretends to rummage around, and then puts the same chicken back on
the scale, while pressing with his thumb. "Three and a half pounds,"
he says.
"That's better. I'll take them both."

This is one of the inscrutable Japanese houseboy and chauffeur's
favorite late night snacks. They can also be cut into triangles for a
tasty hors d'oeuvre or luncheon buffet item.
Hiro's Sandwich
2 slices pumpernickel or rye bread
2 Tbs (30 ml) cream cheese
6 - 8 pimiento-stuffed olives, chopped
4 - 6 pecan or walnut halves, chopped
1 Tbs (15 ml) chopped parsley
Toast the bread lightly. Spread with cream cheese and top with
chopped olives, nuts, and parsley. Makes 1 sandwich.
