Anyone who has raised boys will know just how true this food funny
from Esther Walter of Des Moines, Iowa is:
Our foster children - growing boys - were always hungry. We took one
to a restaurant and when the waitress asked what kind of potatoes he
wanted - baked, fried or hash browns - he said "Yes." And meant it.

Here is another example of how Mark Bittman makes a tasty and unusual
dish out of a few readily available ingredients.
Garlic and Lime Soup
2 Tbs (30 ml) olive oil
1/4 cup (60 ml) finely chopped garlic
1 - 2 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves, diced
6 cups (1.5 L) chicken or vegetable stock
2 cups (500 ml) canned or fresh tomatoes, chopped
1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh lime juice
Salt and freshly ground pepper to taste
Cayenne pepper to taste (optional)
Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over moderate heat and saute
the garlic about 5 minutes, until light golden brown. Add the chicken
and saute an additional 2 minutes, stirring frequently. Add the
remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and simmer
covered for 5 minutes. Serves 4 to 6.
