::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: FOOD FUNNY :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Reader Judi says "I heard this funny when I was just a little girl,
and still think it's cute." I agree.

A lady opened her refrigerator and saw a rabbit sitting on one of the
shelves. "What are you doing in there?" she asked. The rabbit
replied: "This is a Westinghouse, isn't it?", to which the lady
replied "Yes". "Well," the rabbit said, "I'm westing".

::::::::::::::::::::::::::: TODAY'S RECIPE ::::::::::::::::::::::::::

This salad is about as low in fat as they come, in keeping with our
"The Vacation Is Over" light and lean menu. Give it a try, and I
guarantee it will be a 'keeper.'

Fennel, Pear, and Scallion Salad

1 fennel bulb, sliced
1-2 ripe pears, cored and cut into small pieces
1 scallion (green and white part) thinly sliced
Juice of 1 lime
8 to 10 drops sesame oil
Salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste

Combine all ingredients in a bowl and toss gently. Refrigerate and
serve chilled. Serves 4 to 6.
