::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: FOOD FUNNY :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Reader "NYCLadyCSW" sent us a food funny she says she heard from
comedian Howie Mandel:
I went to the grocery store to buy chicken for dinner. Why do they
charge extra for boneless chicken? One would think that the boneless
chicken would be much easier to catch.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::: TODAY'S RECIPE ::::::::::::::::::::::::::
This Southern US classic is the perfect recipe to wrap up our
"Summertime and the Cookin' is Easy" week. Just mix a couple of
mint juleps, put your feet up, and start the rocking chair rocking.
Mint Julep
2 tsp (10 ml) confectioner's (powdered) sugar
3 to 4 sprigs of fresh mint
Shaved ice
2 to 3 oz (60-90 ml) Bourbon
Put the sugar and the mint sprigs in the bottom of a tall glass. Add
a splash of water and, using a muddler or a wooden spoon, crush the
mint leaves in the bottom of the glass and dissolve the sugar in the
water. Fill the glass almost to the top with tightly packed crushed
ice. Add the bourbon and mix with a spoon, using an up and down
motion to mix the bourbon and sugar water. Serve immediately or store
in the freezer. Garnish with a sprig of fresh mint. Makes 1 drink.
