::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: FOOD FUNNY :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Here's another true food funny (you know how I love them) from reader
R. Garriott.
Back in the 80's, when blush wines were popular, we had a out-of-state
(read: Texan) guest in our restaurant. Trying to impress his friends,
he asked for the wine list and after a cursory glance said, "Darlin',
bring us a bottle o' that White Zinfandel." The waitress brought the
bottle and presented it, uncorked and poured a taster for the man, who
never looked up from his conversation. Picking up the glass, however,
he eyed it suspiciously, and reprimanded the server: "Darlin', I ASKED
for white wine. This here's PINK!"
::::::::::::::::::::::::::: TODAY'S RECIPE ::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Nothing beats fresh fruit for a quick and easy summer dessert. These
peaches have been "dressed up" and are ready for any occasion, no
matter how casual or formal.
Balsamic Peaches
6 peaches, peeled, pitted, and sliced
into thick wedges
3 Tbs (45 ml) balsamic vinegar
3 Tbs (45 ml) brown sugar
1/2 tsp (2 ml) freshly ground pepper, or to taste
Combine all the ingredients in a non-metallic bowl and toss to
combine. Chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours before serving. Serve
with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream if desired. Serves 4 to 6.
