"Syntax"*

*I remember vividly the first time I heard the teacher
use the word "syntax" in English Class.

Naturally, you know it refers to the structure of a
sentence. But just imagine being a teenager and
thinking that you had just learned that there was a tax on sin.

I mean, I could hardly afford gas for my car as it was.

"Fool's Paradise"*

*"If there are any idiots in the room, will they please
stand up," said the sarcastic teacher. After a long
silence, one freshman rose to his feet.

"Now then mister, why do you consider yourself an
idiot?" inquired the teacher with a sneer.

"Well, actually I don't," said the student, "but I hate
to see you standing up there all by yourself."
