I teach a second grade class full of second
language learners. I had been limping for weeks
with tendonitis and bone chips in my foot when
one of my darling girls came up and asked me,
"Are you still humping? I hoped you would be
better."
I asked her if she meant 'hopping' and then
explained the difference between hopping and
limping.
I shared this story with my co-workers, which,
of course produced gales of laughter. I'm still
limping but when my co-workers pass me,
they ask, "Are you still humping?"
My reply is , "No, just screwing around!"
