"Enemy"

When my son, Jesse, was little and learning
his ABCs (far too many years ago), he and his
friends were also big fans of the TV cartoon
show 'G.I. Joe'.

One day, while I was absently listening to him
and his friend Shawn repeating for the zillionth
time their ABCs, I noticed something strange
about the way Shawn was repeating his. I
asked Shawn to say his alone and this is what
he said.

"A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, ENEMY,
Q, R, S, T, U, V, W, X, Y, and Z."

Now, that's a regular GI Joe in training!

"Learning Sounds"

Carol-Lou (my wife) is a kindergarten teacher
who occasionally instructs other teachers on
"Hands On Equations" (a nifty 4th grade
introductory algebra technique she learned
while teaching 4th grade).

As she was leaving kindergarten class one day,
she was carrying several bags of materials for
use in another classroom at the after school
instruction class.

One of her kids asked her, "Why are you
carrying so much stuff, Mrs. Lovgren."

"I'm not finished teaching, Sara. I have to go
teach some teachers now."

Sara was incredulous. "Ooooh. Do you mean
the *teachers* don't know their sounds either?"
