For my non-Jewish subscribers, Hanukkah or Chanukah is
an eight-day festival beginning on the 25th day of Kislev,
commemorating the victory in 165 B.C. of the Maccabees over
Antiochus Epiphanes (c. 215-164 B.C.) and the rededication
of the Temple at Jerusalem. Also called Feast of Dedication, or
Feast of Lights. Latkes are potato pancakes, which are
traditionally eaten at Hanukkah. If it were up to me, I'd eat them
all year around because they are delicious! But I'm afraid they'll
end up on my hips.... like most of the good stuff... - ^v^
